What is the special activated carbon used for solvent recovery?

The solvent recovery-specific activated carbon is an efficient adsorption material specially designed for adsorbing and recovering volatile organic solvents in industrial production. It is usually made from high-quality coal-based, coconut shell, or wood-based activated carbon through high-temperature activation treatment. It has a rich microporous structure and a huge specific surface area, thus possessing outstanding adsorption capabilities. The solvent recovery-specific activated carbon plays a significant role in environmental protection, energy conservation, and resource recycling, and is one of the indispensable materials in modern green industries.
Its working principle mainly relies on physical adsorption and partial chemical adsorption. The micropores on the surface of activated carbon can strongly adsorb the volatile solvent molecules in the air. When the gas containing solvents passes through the activated carbon bed, the volatile solvent molecules are adsorbed in the carbon pores, achieving the concentration and retention of the solvents. After a certain period of time, when the activated carbon reaches saturation, it can be desorbed by heating or treated under vacuum, releasing the adsorbed solvents to achieve the purpose of solvent recovery and reuse. This cyclic adsorption-desorption process not only saves production costs but also effectively reduces environmental pollution and enhances the sustainable development level of industrial production.
